This article explores collaborative learning and its interaction with theories of second language learning
This chapter reviews the literature concerning the key aspects of Collaborative Learning in relation to second language acquisition. It opens with a review of relevant learning theories and the conceptual framework so that the foundations of CL can be understood. The chapter differentiates some the concepts of collaboration, cooperation, and group work and discusses how they have been researched in their own realm. A discussion of CL including its definition, rationale, characteristics, and structures serves as the closing part of this chapter.
