LENS: Approaches to Language Learning – Transformative Practices

There are different approaches to language learning which can be used in the classroom. A number of these approaches integrate the target language and content or subject teaching. These pedagogies can increase students’ participation and confidence as well as develop language skills.

  • Task-based learning (TBL)

Task-based learning involves the teaching and learning of languages through tasks in the target language which aims to use authentic language and language usage scenarios. This can increase students’ participation and confidence.
